Adding subtracting polynomial using multiplication

Example1: Add 3p(p2 - 2p + 6) and 2p(p2 + 5p + 6) Solution Step1:- Use distributive property to open the parenthesis. [3p(p2 - 2p + 6)] + [2p(p2 + 5p + 6)] = [(3p x p2) + (3p x - 2p) + (3p x 6)] + [(2p x p2) + (2p x 5p) + (2p x 6)] = [3p3 - 6p2 + 18p] + [2p3 + 10p2 + 12p] = 3p3 - 6p2 + 18p + 2p3 + 10p2 + 12p (after removing the bracket) Step2:- Combine all the like terms = 3p3 + 2p3 - 6p2 + 10p2 + 18p + 12p (after rearranging the terms) = 5p3 + 4p2 + 30p (combining like terms)

Example2: Subtract 3m(2m2 - 3m + 3) and 5m(m2 + 2m + 2) Solution Step1:- Use distributive property to open the parenthesis. [3m(2m2 - 3m + 3)] - [5m(m2 + 2m + 2)] = [(3m x 2m2) + (3m x - 3m) + (3m x 3)] - [(5m x m2)+(5m x 2m) +(5m x 2)] = [6m3 - 9m2 + 9m] - [5m3 + 10m2 + 10m] If negative sign outside bracket then reverse the sign of each term inside the bracket = 6m3 - 9m2 + 9m - 5m3 - 10m2 - 10m (after removing the bracket) Step2:- Combine all the like terms = 6m3 - 5m3 - 9m2 - 10m2 + 9m - 10m (after rearranging the terms) = m3 - 19m2 - m (combining like terms)

Try these Add 3b(b2 - 2b + 5) and 4b(2b2 + 5b - 3) Subtract 2f(3f2 + 2f - 3) and 5f(f2 - 3f + 2)
