Mission and Leadership Team Vision: Vision is to connect the school system to the needs of the STEM industries, so that teachers can help increase the pipeline of STEM students into our universities. “Catch Them Young” Mission: To conduct programs and do projects that gives students career exposure and hands-on experience to spur their curiosity and enthusiasm and at the same time create IEEE awareness in the Central Texas Schools for STEM( Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Leadership Team: Hema Ramaswamy (Chapter Chairman) Ananth Dodabalapur (Vice Chair, Outreach) Jad Jadeja (Vice Chair, Programs) Objectives: Community Outreach Projects that bring awareness to IEEE CTS organizations Engage K-12 students to do STEM projects to support IEEE for Humanitiy Connect with local K-12 schools to understand the students’ needs Devise programs that excites and motivates students to participate in STEM activities 4/13/2019
2017 Accomplishments Theme: Outreach Programs for K-12 and College Students Focus Areas Engage K-12 Students in doing STEM projects for IEEE for Humanity. Target @risk college students and connect them with industry resources and real life enginers Activities Spring 2018: Life as an Engineer in the Workforce – shared my experiences with college students at UT San Antonio. ”My Journey to Becoming an Engineer and Beyond” After many months of scouting, was able to recruit high school students to do IEEE Technology for Humanity project. Blade project in collaboration with Taylor High School, and other projects are being discussed Planning a Student Conference, similar to the one held in UT Austin, in Spring 2017 for Texas State, San Marcos. Tie it with Jayashri Ravishankar’s visit. Explored ways to get high school students to get access to IEEE benefits. Thanks Leslie for all the pointers. Explored – Incubation. IEEE Technology for Humanity project with high school students. Layout the IEEE Benefits for High Students Needs: Need contacts and support from Texas Tech faculty and students and community to advertise and host the student conference.
