Mr. Arcuri’s Newsletter August 31 – September 3 The Game Plan During our fourth week of school the students will continue building Reading Stamina through Independent Reading. We will also begin working on Chapter 2 in GO Math which focuses on place value up to 1000. The students should be writing their homework in their planner each day. They are given 10 minutes to do this each afternoon. What We’re Practicing ELA: We will working on our decoding skills through our fourth spelling words list (long vowels). We will also work on describing detailed information about a story and answering the 5 ‘W’ questions. Writing: We will be using sketches and prior experiences to give us ideas to write about! We will also be practicing how to incorporate Sounds Words in our writing. Math: We will be working on Place Value up to 1,000, writing numbers in different forms, and comparing numbers in Chapter 2 of our GO Math books. Science: We will be studying weather and the important roles the Sun plays! Social Studies: We will be working with and studying maps of Florida, the United States and the Globe! e Please remember that our classroom is a Peanut-Free Classroom. As a result, no snacks or birthday treats containing peanuts should be brought into the classroom! @ Rachel Thorp 2013
