Directions 1. To set the time of day a. Face south b. Align the half dial so that the horizon is horizontal c. Grasp the sun and move it to the time of day located on the big dial. 2. The type and location of the moon in the sky is shown on the big dial.

The time of day is noon. The 1st quarter moon is rising. The 3rd quarter moon is setting.

The time of day is 3 pm. The 1st quarter moon is in southeast. The 3rd quarter moon is below horizon in the west.

The time of day is 6 pm. The 1st quarter moon is directly overhead. The 3rd quarter moon is below horizon and behind us.

The time of day is 9 pm. The 1st quarter moon is in southwest. The 3rd quarter moon is below horizon in the east.

The time of day is midnight. The 1st quarter moon is setting in the west. The 3rd quarter moon is rising in the east.

The time of day is 3 am. The 1st quarter moon is in the west below the horizon. The 3rd quarter moon is in the southeast sky.

The time of day is 6 am. The 1st quarter moon is below horizon behind us. The 3rd quarter moon is directly above us.

The time of day is 9 am. The 1st quarter is below the horizon in the east. The 3rd quarter moon is in the southwestern sky.
