WELCOME TO THE BORGEN PROJECT! You are one of the 13% of applicants who apply that are hired. Make the most of your internship!

How We Operate ADVOCATE:  We lobby U.S. Congress to secure support for poverty-reduction legislation MOBILIZE:  We mobilize people behind efforts that make global poverty a political priority EDUCATE:  We teach basic advocacy skills that allow citizens to communicate with U.S. Congressional leaders ISSUE MESSAGE:  We build awareness about global issues and innovations in poverty- reduction through our online and community presence

2016 Successes Bills supported by The Borgen Project that were enacted into law in 2016: Electrify Africa Act Global Food Security Act Foreign Aid Transparency & Accountability Act Bill supported by The Borgen Project that passed the House and Senate Foreign Relations Committee at the end of 2016:   Education For All Act Web Traffic is WAY UP! 2016 Goal was 1.6 million visitors By the end of the year, we were just shy of 2.5 million visitors!

Congressional Meetings You will be meeting with your: 1 Representative 2 Senators Kai with Senator Casey – Philadelphia, PA

Congressional Meetings Go to your Senator’s or Representative’s website and fill out a request for meeting (which tends to be under the “Contact” section of their page). Keep following up and be politely persistent. Look out for events they may be attending (Bird-dogging opportunities) Keep the pressure coming into their offices weekly!

Review the Financials (Helpful for answering questions that friends and family may have) Successful fundraising starts with the ASK Use your resources (local restaurants, community or college groups) Utilize your 25 hours we have given you to put towards fundraising (roughly 1.5 hrs./week)
