Portfolio management - monitoring report 1. ESS Vision 2020 – portfolio Portfolio management - monitoring report The ESS Vision 2020 portfolio is on track and delivery confidence remains high. Leaving the supporting framework on Cooperation Models (for which we will have a more in-depth presentation under item 5) aside for the moment, I would like to take the opportunity to draw your attention to some recent highlights of the various projects:
1. ESS Vision 2020 – portfolio (2) ADMIN Administrative data sources The methodological helpdesk remains operational and accessible to colleagues throughout the ESS A number of new proposals for pilot studies and applications (to be financed by grants) have been submitted by Member States. BIGD Big Data The business case “Smart Statistics and Big Data” was endorsed by the ESSC meeting of 8 February 2018. The ESSnet Big Data organises the Big Data for European Statistics (BDES) 2018 workshop in Sofia, Bulgaria 14-15 May 2018 to present the results of the project. The DGINS in in Bucarest (10-11 October 2018) will be organised around the theme new statistical opportunities and production models deriving from digitisation of societies and big data

ESS Vision 2020 – portfolio (3) DIGICOM Digital communication, User analytics and Innovative products The European Statistics Competition is ongoing, with 10 500 students from 11 countries participating. The visualisation on gender pay gap from the digital publication “Women and men in Europe” was advertised on Facebook on international women’s day and registered 3 million post views. Twenty-one NSIs have agreed to the publication of EU-SILC public use files. ESBRs European system of interoperable business registers The interoperability pilots have now started, with 22 countries participating. The Business Architecture Task Force has started to conduct an analysis of the Interoperability Framework. The European Profiling Task Force has worked on an analysis of the integration between EGR/Profiling and the setting up of a Profiling Programme.
1. ESS Vision 2020 – portfolio (4) ESDEN European statistical data exchange network With the FRIBS regulation approaching, the number of countries connecting to the secure networks is increasing. The new EDAMIS 4 Web Portal is scheduled to go live by Q3 2018, in parallel with the current EDAMIS 3. SERV Shared services The second ESSnet, geared towards the deployment in the ESS of the deliverables, has been launched. A new hosting solution has been selected for the new Service Catalogue. EA Enterprise Architecture Framework The ESS Enterprise Architecture framework prepared a benchmarking model (that will allow Member States to assess their maturity for reusing ESS Vision 2020 services and building blocks). QUAL Quality Framework The revised CoP was adopted by the ESSC in November 2017; the Working Group on Quality in Statistics is taking forward work on the revision of the Quality Assurance Framework. A project to analyse users' perception on the quality of European statistics, jointly managed with DIGICOM, was launched in December 2017.
