Odyssey Vocabulary Part I

Muster V. to gather, summon, rouse The young boy mustered up courage to show his mother his report card.

Ravage V. To destroy violently After breaching the walls of Troy, the Greek soldiers ravaged the city.

Sage Adj. wise Odysseus is known for his sage advice; without the Trojan Horse, the Greeks would never have conquered Troy.

Profusion N. large supply, abundance In October, there was a profusion of pink shirts in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Pungent Adj. 1. sharply affecting the organs of taste or smell, as if by a penetrating power; biting; acrid. The young children were disgusted by the pungent odor of the cheese.
