Why Tapestry? Interactive resource allowing us to observe children, monitor progress and collect data. Tapestry is excellent for it’s parental engagement feature- allows parents to see what children are doing at school, comment, add own observations. Lots of opportunities for Home Learning links. Write in the grid. Prize to pair who comes up with the most benefits. 15 minutes
Home Learning Menu -Home learning menu gives a wide range of open-ended activities for children to complete with parents, siblings, relatives. -Menu format means that parents are free to decide how many activities they complete. Remember, EYFS children learn through play and real life experiences- not worksheets! -Home learning will not be formally ‘marked’ by school, but will be acknowledged. -Tapestry is a great way to record home learning- class teacher and AHT, HT can see it and comment, it gets stored in their journal. Use the question matrix with your partner to come up with a set of questions you could ask. Use A,B, C techniques from Destination Reader to build on responses.
Tapestry…. -Login on a computer or download the app and use your smart phone or tablet Activate your email address and create your login/password See your child’s observations from school and add comments if you want. Create your own observations of fun things you’ve done at home OR something from the home learning menu. Teachers get into 6’s. Take it in turns asking questions – use the ABC to build, challenge etc.
