Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency / ATA The Government of Ethiopia established the Agricultural Transformation Agency by Federal Regulation in December 2010 as a catalyst for positive, transformational, and sustainable change. The primary aim of the Agency is to promote agricultural sector transformation by supporting existing structures of government, private sector and other non-governmental partners to address systemic bottlenecks in delivering on a priority national agenda for achieving growth and food security (more info can be found at http://www.ata.gov.et/

Gibe Dedisa Farmers’ Cooperative Union This Farmers’ Cooperative is located in the Wellega region of Ethiopia with the capacity of exporting more than 300MT of Humera type of sesame seed. With its own capital and being Shareholder in Oromia Cooperative Bank, the cooperative has secured enough finance to be able to export good amount of Wollega type sesame seed in 2013/2014 crop season. Buno Bedele Farmers’ Cooperative Union As wollega sesame farmers’ Cooperative, Buno Bedele farmers’ cooperative is also Shareholder in Oromia Cooperative Bank which secured enough finance to be able to purchase from its members and export its production to various destinations around the world. This union has the capacity to produce 700MT Sesame seed in the crop season of 2012/2013. For 2013/2014 crop season the union has a plan to export more than 2000MT. Setit Humera Farmers’ Cooperative Union As the name indicates this farmers’ cooperative is situated in the heart of Humera Region where the world’s best whitish sesame seed is produced. Setit Humera farmers’ cooperative has the experience of exporting Humera type sesame seed to Asia and Europe in the previous crop seasons. It has its own warehouse (5000MT holding capacity) and European made cleaning machine which enables the cooperative to meet the quality of 99% purity. Dansha Awrora Farmers’ Cooperative Union With its own new built warehouse and cleaning machine Dansha farmer’s cooperatives is ready to export 3000MT,Humera type sesame seed, for the crop season of 2013/2014. Lemlem Welqayet Farmers’ Cooperative Union Under Tigray Region Farmers’ Cooperative Union Lemlem Welqayt has planned to export more than 200MT of Humera sesame in this crop season of 2013/2014. The union is a member of ECX

ADMAS (Injibara) Multipurpose Farmers’ Cooperative Union Admas multipurpose cooperative union has 53 primary cooperative. The union specializes on Gondar type of Sesame. Last year it purchased 500MT sesame but wants to grow it to 2000MT this year. The union has warehouse capacity of up to 10,500MT and a rentable cleaning equipment in Kosso Berri where the Union’s office is located. The union is member of ECX.  METEMA cooperative union Metema union is becoming a strong supplier of Humera sesame seeds. Last year it purchased 500MT sesame, of which 400MT was exported to Israel and Turkey. The union plans to purchase 7,000MT humera sesame for export in the current season. It has warehouse capacity of up to 6,000MT in a in high quality USAID-AMDe warehouse and a rentable cleaning equipment in Metema. The union is member of ECX.  SELAM Multipurpose Farmers’ Cooperative Union Selam Cooperative Union was established in 2008 by 16 primary cooperatives. Main crop is sesame seeds – Gondar type. Last year the union purchased and exported 600MT sesame and the plan for 2014 is 5000MT. SELAM can stock up to 7000MT in their 3 warehouses TSEHAY Multipurpose Farmers’ Cooperative Union Tsehay multipurpose Farmers’ cooperative union is found in Ethiopia, Amhara region, Gondar town. It was established in 2000 with membership of four primary societies. TSEHAY exports both Humera type and Gondar type sesame seeds, among other crops. In the past TSEHAY exported 350MT but plans to grow same to 2000MT in 2014. Their different warehouses can carry stock of up to 6000MT, with cleaning equipment rentable right in Gondar where grading also takes place. The union is a member of ECX
