Ask the following to your Partner What is your name? What is your favorite color?
May I shake your hand? May I borrow a pencil? Can I keep your pencil?
May I copy your homework? May you show me your answer to your test? May I have a Dollar?
DId you get a yes? How many did or pretend to carry through the action? We ask questions to instil an action that answers what we ask for. We get either a YES or a NO. When we communicate YES is a clear action and so is an NO. Maybe is an in between statement that does not mean YES.
3 Types of Communication: Passive When a person is timid or unclear in expressing their needs They won’t speak up about what THEY want, but just go along with what the other person wants
3 Types of Communication: Aggressive Method of expressing needs and desires that does not take into account the welfare of others. Harsh style of communication that harms social relationships. (using put downs or bullying a person to do what you say)
3 Types of Communication: Assertive Ability to express positive and negative ideas and feelings in an open, honest and direct way.
