Care4Kids Overview Care4Kids is Connecticut’s largest childcare program Helps working families deal with the high costs of childcare Accessible statewide

Challenges Changes at the Federal level impacted the Block Grant that funds Care4Kids Beginning in August 2016, program closed to all but those receiving TANF Approximately 10,000 fewer children had access 1,000 providers were forced to close Centers, Licensed Family/Home Care, Family Friends Center-Based closures up 50%

Funding Restored Program reopened this past November Families cleared from the waitlist Enrollment opened back up to all eligible families Federal Government authorized new CCDBG spending

Next Steps THANK your legislators for their hard work restoring Care4Kids Tell them that additional dollars will help keep the program open Ask them to ensure that the $18 Million in new Federal funds are added to directly into the Care4Kids budget Tell them we still need more infant and toddler care Keep talking about this with lawmakers and advocates
