Transitions

A transition word connects thoughts together A transition word connects thoughts together. Your writing can be made more interesting and more persuasive by including transition words in your writing.

Some examples of transitions are: First, second, third Next, then After Following As soon as Just then Meanwhile So, thus Therefore, hence Consequently Due to Since As a result Therefore Otherwise For this reason

Now you will practice using transitions Now you will practice using transitions. Write a one-paragraph persuasive essay using as many transition words as you can. For your essay, provide three reasons to persuade the reader. Select one of the prompts below. Click on the link at the bottom to write your essay. Think of a problem at your school. What causes the problem? What bad things happen because of it? What should be done to fix the problem? As a concerned student, write a persuasive essay noting the problem, suggesting a solution, and convincing your principal to take action. What vacation would you like most? Hiking in a state park? Visiting Grandma? Going to an amusement park? Write an essay to your parent or guardian naming what would be a perfect vacation and giving reasons you would like to take it. Think about a class not currently available that you would like your school to offer. Now write an essay that identifies the new class and provides strong reasons for including it in your school’s curriculum. Your school principal is considering a new policy that will require all students to wear uniforms. What is your position concerning this issue? Write a letter to your principal stating your position and supporting it with convincing reasons. Be sure to explain your reasons in detail. Click HERE to write your essay.
