New England ME - Completed selection and roguing of 10 lines of BC3 trees VT/NH - Participated in 10 different outreach events – shows/festivals/demos/presentations MA/RI - Identified and began to prepare 2 seed orchard sites CT - Held a very successful Annual Meeting at Yale University and has pursued GIS research with Uconn ME and MA/RI also held their first big Restoration Branch events
North Central IN – Planted progeny test on Hoosier NF. Started grafted American orchard NY – Planted 4 locations with transgenic material as part of regulation and regional trials. OH – Continued planting on strip mines and established demo and breeding orchards. Using Learning boxes at talks and outreach events. PA/NJ – Restoration branch at Raystown Lake. Grant to put together 10 Learning Boxes.
Mid-Atlantic MD – TACFs adoption of the American chestnut learning box as a product of TACF for sale, Establishing a partnership with GenOn, Inc. VA – Hosted A Sylvan Affair Chestnut Gala in spring of WV – Establishment of first public progeny test planting involving local volunteers
Southern Appalachians AL – Strengthened partnerships with current orgs and gained new ones with demo and ceremonial plantings. Working toward a MS Chapter GA – Restoration Branch events and new demo orchards with new partners CC – Restoration Branch event at Cataloochie Ranch TN – Completing first B3F2 lines KY – ARRI plantings, SAF meeting on chestnut and a $10K grant from the USFS!

Not enough active participants to handle the increasing workload. This is a VERY common issue among our chapters! We Need More Help!
Current Leadership has been in place for over five years and has not been able to cultivate replacements. How have others approached succession of leadership and continuity? Leadership
…or lack thereof!!! Many of our chapters have struggled to maintain current and organized records of all the breeding work they do. Data Standardization We hope the new TreesDB will help!
We had a few additional challenges to deal with during the 2011 field season: Ambrosia Beetle Wet year in 2011= Pythium! Breeding Challenges
