Keeps contacts in the loop about your company Keeps your company top of mind if you’re ever needed. Keeps you connected to people within the industry, like subcontractors, suppliers or trade magazine editors. There are many groups on LinkedIn that are relevant to your industry. Taking part in these discussions can help you get noticed by trade media and set you up as an industry expert. NARI has two groups, one is National Association of the Remodeling Industry and the other is NARI Green Remodeling. You can get to both via NARI’s Knowledge Community, www.nari.org/learning. NARI uses its site to see what types of content our members are interested in and to find sources.

LinkedIn Use the background space in your LinkedIn profile to describe what your company specializes in (USE SPELL CHECK). There’s the opportunity to include links to images (some of the popular sites LI allows include Pinterest, owl.ly, twitpic. Joe uses a program called Behance). You can also link to videos on YouTube and other sites, as well as presentations. In the edit mode, you’ll see a hyperlink that says supported providers.

If that makes you uncomfortable, you can also use it as part of your signature line or in a follow-up communication with a homeowner about their finished project. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people you’re interested in getting connected to—local media, local suppliers you don’t yet work with, or for suppliers, local remodelers you’d like to work with.

This is a great way to share projects, blog posts, etc. You can also go in under settings and connect it to a Twitter account so you’re only posting once.

People who follow your page will see when you’ve updated those products/services. It also allows you to share updates, as you can with your regular profile. Another way to keep people informed about what your company is doing.
