The Philippines is the 12 th most populated country in the world, with a population of more than 103 million people (2012 estimate). The capital of the Philippines, Manila, has a population of over 11 million people.

Others include non-tribal groups like the Moro, Kapampangan, Pangasinense, Ibanag, and Ivatan. There are also indigenous peoples like the Igorot, Lumad, Mangyan, Baiau, and Palawan tribes. The Philippine people, or Filipinos, generally belong to several Asian ethnic groups including Taiwanese, Chinese, Malay, Japanese, and Arabs. In time, Indians, Spaniards, and Americans arrived, as well as other European peoples. Intermarriage between groups is obvious in major cities and urban areas.

The official languages of the Philippines are Filipino and English. Filipino is a version of Tagalog that is spoken mainly in Metro Manila and other urban regions. Regional languages, such as Bicolano, Cebuano, Ilocano, Pangasinan, Waray-Waray, are recognized as auxiliary official languages. Filipino and English are used in government, education, print, broadcast media, and business.

In 2011, the estimated GDP was $216 billion. Their primary exports include semiconductors, garments, copper products, and fruits.

Temperatures range from 70° to 90°F. The coolest month is January and the warmest is May.
