GECPIC School Council Policy and Regulation Review GECPIC Bylaw, Policy and Regulation Review October 25th, 2016
Education Act – School Councils Boards have a vital role to play in helping their school councils become well-informed and involved members of their school communities. Boards set direction through their various policies and guidelines and provide important support to the other partners in the education system, such as principals, teachers, parents, and students. School Councils This policy and regulation has been in effect since 2011/09/20. Currently a review year.
Education Act - GECPIC Ontario Regulation 612/00 requires all Ontario school boards to establish a Parent Involvement Committee and outlines its composition, function and mandate.
GECPIC – By-laws By-laws will have to be updated based on any changes that occur to the Policy and Regulations of GECPIC.
GECPIC – Policy and Regulation Review Goal is to update the policy and regulation of School Councils and GECPIC, in turn will need to update GECPIC by-laws based on any policy and/or regulation changes. Committee to include representation from the Board, Trustees, Administration and Parents. Investigate other Parent Involvement Committees across the province, review policy and procedures as outlined in the Education Act 612/00 and any other pertinent information Commitment will include approximately 4-5 meetings Email chris.mills@publicboard.ca to get involved
