Presentation transcript:

Work Session Use the checklist to make sure that you have included all requirements. Make sure that you have used evidence from the articles that we read in class. You can use quotes and paraphrased evidence. You must clearly cite the sources. You can use shortened versions of the titles: “Gene-editing kit stirs up debate over do-it- yourself DNA creations” = “Gene-editing Kit” “Opinion: We can - and should – engineer a better baby but set limits” = “Engineer a Better Baby” “Opinion: Scientists discuss when ‘gene editing’ technology should be used” = “Scientists Discuss” Examples: In the article, “Engineer a Better Baby,” the author stated, “Genes make us who we are, for good or bad.” According to the author of “Gene-editing Kit,” “The kit has limited applications because Zayner's altered bacteria and yeast cannot do much except change color or fragrance, or live in inhospitable places for a short time.” In the article, “Scientists Discuss,” scientist David Baltimore said, “We are close to be being able to alter human heredity.” You will use this time to type your final argumentative essay. If you do not finish typing it in class, you can finish typing it tonight. You should print your final essay at home. If you do not have a printer, you can email it to me, but you must have a note from a parent explaining that you do not have a printer or your printer is broken. Your essay should be typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font. Your essay should be double spaced. *If you have a question about font and spacing, please let me know.
