Objective and Criteria for Success CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.8.6 Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression. I will gather vocabulary knowledge and use the words accurately, by creating a google presentation

Think Positive! And Always try your Best!! What are some important test taking strategies? Think Positive! And Always try your Best!!

Directions Read the test directions very carefully. Ask your teacher to explain the directions you do not understand. Only by following the directions can you achieve a good score on the test.

Test Questions Read the question and read all answer choices before marking anything.

What Is It Asking? Make sure you understand what the question is asking. Be sure you are responding to the question that is being asked. Reread the question once you have an answer

Reading Passages Read the questions first By doing this, you will know what you are looking for as you read. This also helps you go faster on the test.

Reading Passages When there are several questions about a reading passage or chart, look for clues in other questions that will help you with those items about which you are unsure.

Multiple Choice Questions Do not change your answers unless you are very uncertain about your first answer choice was incorrect. Make the most intelligent guess you can.

The Process of Elimination After reading the question and each possible answer eliminate choices that you know are incorrect. I know C isn’t the answer!

Key Words Find key words or phrases in the question that will help you choose the correct answer.

Pace Yourself Don’t spend too much time on any one question. Do your best and then move on.

Math Computation When using scratch paper on a math test, double check to make sure that you have copied the problem correctly from the test booklet!

Math Computation Line up place value correctly on your scratch paper (thousands, hundreds, tens, ones) or the answer will be incorrect.

Math Computation If your answer does not match one of the choices, reread the problem, recopy the numbers, and try solving it again.

How can learning new vocabulary be used at school, in a career and daily life interactions?

LOL [el-oh-el or, often, lol] The acronym LOL existed long before chatrooms and text messaging. In the 1960s this acronym emerged in the US meaning “little old lady.”
