Richwoods High School “The Standard of Excellence” Being a proud member of the “Standard of Excellence,” Richwoods High School, places high expectations on all students, staff, parents, and community members. It is expected that all members of the Standard of Excellence hold themselves to the highest standard of academic success, while representing first-class behavior in all areas of today’s society. It is our goal that wherever a member of Richwoods High School ventures, he/she will stand out as an example of Excellence and leadership.

Quarterly Exams Students will take Quarterly Exams: End of GP 1 Quarterly Exams replaced Final Exams Quarterly Exams will count for 10% of your grade

NWEA Fall Schedule 9th – 11th grade will take NWEA. Testing begins on September 3rd Students will take NWEA during their English classes Students are expected to take the exam seriously NWEA is one criteria for course selections

Hallway Sweeps – Attend every class on time Sweeps happen at random hours each day After the bell rings, teachers will shut/lock doors Students in the hallway (tardy) will be “swept” and receive a Saturday School Slip from an AP or Officer Students may serve a Merit Hall after school Monday-Thursday from 2:40 – 3:10 to remove the Saturday School If a sweep/Merit Hall for each tardy that week is not served, you must serve Saturday School from 9:00 – 11:00 the same week Further discipline will occur if Merit Hall/Saturday School is not served

Eligibility Point Based Eligibility is comprised of: Grading Period GPA GPA = 2.8 x 10 = 28 points Subtract 1 point for every absence and tardy (excused and unexcused). Student must have 18 points to be eligible for the next grading period. Boosters = Next Slide Eligibility applies to: Sporting Events Dances Productions Students must present school ID to verify eligibility. Eligibility applies to RHS, PHS, and MHS events.

Eligibility Booster At the beginning of each grading period students who are ineligible have an extra opportunity to become eligible. Booster Criteria: Only 1 tardy No absences No suspensions Exceptions: Students failing 2 or more classes. Students with 2 or more suspensions in a grading period. Students suspended for fighting/drugs/major offenses. These exceptions will prohibit booster participation. Therefore, students with these infractions will be ineligible the entire grading period.

Grading Policy 10 point scale A = 90 – 100 5 B = 80 – 89 4 F = 50 – 59 1 0 = 40 0 10 point scale

Absences Excused Absences Unexcused Absences For a non-attendance day to be an excused absence, a parent note, phone call or email would be required from the student’s recognized guardian within two (2) attendance days of the student’s return to school. Excused students will be given a zero (40) for missing assignments. The student will be allowed two (2) days for every one day of excused absence to make up missing assignments. A student who completes the assignments within the time guidelines shall receive full credit. The percentage grade would then replace the zero (40) given. Incomplete work or work not turned in would still be a zero (40). Students with an unexcused absence, including suspensions, shall be given a zero but they shall be allowed to make up the work for full credit. Students will be allowed two (2) days for every day of unexcused absence or suspension. A student who completes the assignment within the time guidelines shall receive full credit.
