FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE TERMS

OVARIES- A PAIR OF GLANDS THAT PRODUCE EGG CELLS AND THE FEMALE HORMONE ESTROGEN. THE OVARIES CONTAIN THOUSANDS OF EGGS BUT THEY ARE NOT RELEASED UNTIL PUBERTY. OVUM- FEMALE SEX CELL

FALLOPIAN TUBE- A TUBE THAT LEADS FROM THE OVARIES TO THE UTERUS FUNCTION- TRANSPORT EGGS FROM THE OVARY TO THE UTERUS

FERTILIZATION-(CONCEPTION)- THE UNION OF AN EGG CELL AND A SPERM CELL THAT TAKES PLACE IN THE FALLOPIAN TUBE OVULATION- WHEN THE OVARIES RELEASE AN EGG INTO THE FALLOPIAN TUBE

UTERUS- A MUSCULAR, HOLLOW ORGAN THAT HOLDS A FERTILIZED EGG THROUGH DEVELOPMENT UNTIL BIRTH SOMETIMES CALLED THE WOMB

VAGINA- A MUSCULAR TUBE THAT STRETCHES DURING CHILDBIRTH CERVIX- THE MOUTH OR OPENING TO THE UTERUS

MENSTRUATION- THE PERIODIC SHEDDING OF THE UTERINE LINING WHICH HAS FORMED IN PREPARATION OF A FERTILIZED EGG BEGINS WITH PUBERTY
