Drugs and Mental Illness: Due no Later than (3/3) : For many years, psychologists and medical professionals have discussed the links between drugs/alcohol and mental illness. Scientists have also linked people with psychological disorders as being much more likely to use and abuse drugs and alcohol. While many people assume that this is a rare issue in America, the reality is that if you combine all the Americans who abuse drugs, all the Americans who suffer from mental illnesses, and a combination of both it accounts for almost 30% of our society. Furthermore, it is estimated that dealing with the issues related to mental illness and/or drug abuse costs us in excess of $500,000,000,000 per year. This is truly an epidemic in America.

Your Assignment: Using (reliable) information from the internet you will be studying the link between drugs/alcohol and mental illness. You must take a stance that there is a connection or there is not a connection and you must find evidence to back it up. While you could go to many sites, there are some websites that specialize in just this subject. What to do: -Write at least 4-5 pages (single spaced) -Be sure to take a stance -Be sure to support it with evidence -Be sure to site your evidence -Include a works cited page (does not count toward 4-5 pages)
