Senior Pupil Profiling Attainment & Achievement PSE/PPD/PDA My MerIT Weeks 1-3

My MerIT week 1 – Monday 9th October Next week is My MerIT week 1 This week in ALL subjects your teachers will be encouraging and supporting you to complete your achievements in your Learning Diary to get ready for My MerIT week You will then input this detail into your online profile during PSE/PPD/PDA. When you complete your Profile you should be adding as many achievements in school and out of school as you can.

Review - What is an achievement and Why should we track them? An achievement is anything you do which makes you feel proud or where you have developed your skills/qualities. Keeping a record of these achievements will help you when creating a CV/Job Appplication/UCAS Personal Statement and ensure that you select your lastest and best achievements. However in order to do this, It is essential that you are able to recognise the difference between a skill and a quality and are able to show how you have used each. Task 1 – (2 Mins.) With the person next to you, briefly recap what we mean by a ‘skill’ and what we mean by a ‘quality’. Be prepared to feedback to the class. Task 2 – Individual Task – In your jotter, write down at least 2 skills and 2 personal qualities that you have that you think are strengths of yours. Give examples of how you have shown these within school. Task 3 – Complete the same task, however this time list 1 skill and 1 personal quality that you would like to develop this year and why you think this would help you.

Recording your Achievements Below you will find some examples of achievements within different curricular areas. In your learning diary, complete at least 2 entries within PSE and across the curriculum that you have achieved. Achievements Linked Skills Completed Biology Investigation into micro organisms and submitted ahead of deadline. Delivered presentation to peers during solo talk in English on Scottish Independence. Literacy, research, study, planning, organising Research Skills, Literacy, Planning, Presentation Skills, Communication

Achievements out of school and class Now you can do the same for achievements out of class and school – these might include committees that you are involved in, clubs that you attend or help to organise. Future employers will look for individuals who have the grades but also those who are involved in other aspects of school and community life. What could you get involved in that will develop your skills/qualities and set you apart from others? The time to act is now!!

S6 PPD This session you will be responsible for completion of your own MyMerit Online Profile Your teacher will provide you with your login details – NOTE THESE IN YOUR LEARNING DIARY/PHONE ETC – and a ‘How to Guide’ You will receive reminders that you should update on a regular basis. ALL PROFILES MUST BE COMPLETED BY FRIDAY 16TH FEBRUARY. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN YOUR PLACE AT PROM BEING JEOPARDISED.
