RIVERSIDE COUNTY LEADING THE WAY TO COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS

CALPADS A-G DATA CONCERNS September 2014 CDE: I'll follow-up on the file description you pointed out. Sometimes, in an attempt to save space, we provide a more basic description of the data. In this case, I can see what we were intending to show but it's not entirely accurate. Thank you for pointing out the web site!   A-G completion is calculated with UC only requirements or C grades for all semesters instead of also using approved validation rules No clear and consistent system for course tagging at district or site Tagging reflects “in process” for A-G completion and verification does not take place after graduation/August CALPADS reports are not reviewed by counselors and site administrators prior to certification deadline

THE REALITY OF THE SCHOOL SITE General lack of understanding and knowledge of CALPADS data and importance The delivery of the data for site review is minimal Sites and district do not have a system to review this data for accuracy including additional days or meetings that focus on this data Communication between SIS, CALPADS, C & I, and school sites is minimal

Sample CALPADS Timeline

NEXT STEPS Identify key positions at central office and school sites to establish responsibilities and develop a plan Create a timeline that is sensitive to external timelines (CALPADS calendar) Schedule frequent meetings or check-in for ongoing review and improvement Timeline needs to be procedural and potentially in a handbook
