The Rules

Legal Equipment IM provided plastic sticks Athletic shoes (not dark soled) Shin guards, knee pads, gloves (not ice hockey) Goggles can be rented from the Equipment Room IM provided plastic floorball

Forms of Identification Proper forms of Identification include: 1. UCD Student ID (Aggies Card) 2. CRU Card 3. Any other picture ID Unacceptable Forms Oasis Do not add participants to roster on the court EXCEPTION: Participants may add on the court and use Oasis to check in during Pre-Season (Week 1) play only

Other general rules Add-ins on the court are only allowed during Week 1 of play (Pre-Season). After Week 1, new participants to your team must sign up for the team on IM Track by 4pm at the latest on the day of your game. All participants must purchase a Rec sports One Pass before the Regular Season (Week 2 of play).

Teams 6 court-players (no goalies) Minimum of 4 players needed to start CoRec modification- Legal ratios: 3:3 3:2 4:2 3:1 2:2 Home – white/grey Away – Dark/Black/Navy FORFEIT SCORE 0-3!!!!

Player Positions Goalkeeper: Court-player: There are none! Includes every player, can play anywhere on the court. BUT, no part of their body may enter the crease at any time.

In-game Player Substitution Can be made “on the fly” or during any stoppage of play Outgoing player must leave court completely before sub can enter (minor penalty will apply) Jumping over the wall into the bench area is prohibited (minor penalty will apply)

Mechanics of the Game Two 15 Minutes running halves with a one 1-minute half time Stop time will be the last two minutes of the second half IF the difference in scores is 3 or less. Clock stops for penalties, injuries or when otherwise deemed necessary by the officials or supervisor. Clock will not stop for penalty shots, lost balls, etc. Regular season games will have a shootout if tied. In playoffs, a 3 minute sudden-death stop clock overtime period will occur If still tied at the end of sudden death overtime the game will be decided with a shootout. No time outs

General Rules Icing: Off-sides: Face-offs: No off-sides It occurs when a player shoots the ball across both the center line and the opposing team's goal line, and the ball remains untouched. Icing results in a minor penalty and a face off beginning at the hash where the incident occurred. Off-sides: No off-sides Face-offs: Used to begin each period and after a goal is scored Used to resume play following penalty enforcement Face-offs take place at center court OR at one of the 4 face-off hashes During face-offs players must be on their defensive side of the face off.

Scoring a Goal To score the ball must COMPLETELY cross the goal line or the plane of the goal line. The goal must be scored before the time expires. Players may not enter the crease or put their sticks in the crease The line is considered part of the crease!

Goal Restrictions The ball must enter the goal via a stick (can’t be kicked, thrown, etc. into goal) May bounce off equipment or other players A goal may not be scored via an offensive penalty.

Violations that results in a possession change No part of a player’s body may enter the crease. A player entering the crease while in their offensive zone will result in a face off in their defensive zone. Knocking puck out of play Player throws or bats the ball to a teammate in the offensive zone Player takes longer than 5 seconds to execute a penalty shot

Minor Penalties 1 Minute Power Play 1 min or when advantaged team scores Penalties carry over to next period Offenses include: Slashing the stick (from above) Intentional moving of goal cage Roughing Hooking or Holding (an opponent’s stick or body) Using a broken stick Unsportsmanlike Conduct Etc.

Staggered Penalties If a team commits 2 penalties, they will be allowed to play down to 4 players If the same team commits another penalty while the previous two are being served, the third and following penalties will be staggered CoRec: gender ratios will be enforced during penalties

Penalty Shot Infraction must be in shooter’s offensive half of court Shooter must have a clean shot on goal There may be no defensive player between the goal and shooter When a player is flagrantly prevented from executing a shot on goal. (i.e. pulled down from behind) The goal is moved by the defense to prevent a goal from being scored. Throwing a stick is an automatic penalty shot

Operation of Penalty Shot Players from both teams must withdraw to the bench area. Clock is not stopped. The ball shall be placed at the top of the three-point ARC The player has 5 seconds to shoot after official blows whistle The shooter must stay stationary Player must shoot the ball behind the three-point arch Only one shot may be taken in the 5 sec. Fouled player must take shot unless physically unable; if so the team captain will decide who shoots in their place. Play is DEAD after the shot. If goal is not scored the resulting face off is in the zone closest to where the penalty occurred

Tied Games Tied regular season games will result in a shootout Any 3 members from each team will be allowed to attempt shot (each shot must be taken by different player) In CoRec, the 3 members must include at least 1 of each gender Shots are alternated between teams, using the officials chosen goal The visiting team shoots first Penalty shots will be taken one at a time by pairs of opponents until one player of the pair scores and the other does not Operation is same to that of a penalty shot The winner of the shootout shall be awarded 1 goal on the final score

Overtime in Playoffs 3 minute sudden death (stop clock) First team to score wins If still tied, 3 person shootout Shootout continues until there is a winner

FairPlay Each team will start the game with a score of 4 Officials have the right to alter each team’s Fairplay rating by .5 (in either direction) based on their discretion An average FairPlay rating below a 3.5 renders a team ineligible for the playoffs. If a Fairplay less than a 4.0 is given, reason must be written on back of the scorecard
