Prep for Success 2017: Attitude is #1: Business Ethics and Etiquette To view this presentation, first, turn up your volume and second, launch the self-running slide show.

What do you think of when you hear the word “attitude?” Brainstorm with a partner: What is attitude? What kind of attitude do you have about school?

What is the link between attitude and communication? Verbal communication is the use of sounds and words to express yourself Nonverbal Communication is communication without words. It includes apparent behaviors such as facial expressions, eyes, touching, and tone of voice.

How do you want to communicate while you are at work? Verbal communication is extremely important to your relationship with your supervisor. You are in the office once a week and they need to know where you are on on-going projects! Non-verbal communication is just as important! Make sure you are communicating the right message with your facial expressions and body language! Tone- the general character or attitude of a place, piece of writing, situation, etc.

Office Setting vs. Social Setting-Think Tone Directions: In your notes, sketch an example of what an office setting looks like. Then sketch what a social setting looks like. Write down at least three differences between the two. (5 minutes)

What does ethics have to do with business? What are ethics? Who do you know in your life that you believe is ethical? To view this presentation, first, turn up your volume and second, launch the self-running slide show. What does ethics have to do with business?

Discrimination: is treating, or proposing to treat, someone unfavorably because of a personal characteristic protected by law. This can include (but not limited to) a person’s gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, and other factors.

Directions: As you are watching the following video, take notes on what happens at the business. Have at least three points to share out on. https://www.eeoc.gov/youth//videos.html#myElement
