How to Care for Baby Chickens By:Mallory Robertson, Adam Gimbel, Joshua Redmond, and Fantashia Kipper

Food If you put a chicken in a yard the chick will fend for itself and try to find food! Some food it might eat is insects, seeds, and grass!

How to Care for Baby Chicks The 1st week, keep the temperature at the level of 90-95 degrees. The baby chicks need to be free from drafts. When the chicks get cold they will bunch up and give a distressed “cheep”. When they are warm the chicks will stand up and open their beaks.

Raising the Chicks for When They get older Clean and disinfect wherever you’re going to keep your chickens. Do not use bleach because it could kill the chicks.Turn on the heat lamps a day or two before the chicks arrive.Make sure you leave enough room in the box because the chicks might get scared and try to huddle in a corner and they some might get smothered.
