Overview Overview Freewrite Workshop Wrap-up

Freewrite Have you decided which (discourse) community you are going to write about? If yes: what is it and why? If no: what are you considering? What progress have you made on your assignment so far? How do you feel about what you’ve done?

Workshop: Q1 What communities were you a part of in high school? What communities are you a part of here at Syracuse? What communities are/were you a part of outside of your HS and/or college experience?

Workshop: Q2 Have you chosen what community you are going to write about? If so: describe it. What is it? Why is it important to you? If not: talk through the ones that you are thinking about.

Workshop: Q3 Pick a community you belong to. How do you communicate with one another? How did you come to be aware of it? At what point did you identify as a member of that community? How did you know?

Workshop: Q4 Pick a community you belong to. What are recurring situations for your community? How does your community respond to those situations? What genres does that entail?

Workshop: Q5 Pick a potential genre from your community that you just mentioned in the last round. Who is the audience? Who is/are the composer(s)? What is the purpose? What is the context?

Workshop: Q6 What progress have you made so far? What are you happy with? Frustrated with? What are questions that you have, or decisions that your are navigating?

Workshop: Q7 What are specific goals that you have to make progress on your assignment between now and Monday, when we peer review? What are specific, actionable steps you can take to get there?

Freewrite What was that experience like for you? What did you learn about yourself? About the assignment? What specific, actionable steps, do you plan to take to make progress on your assignment? What needs to done between now and Monday to have a full draft for peer review?
