FLL Judging 2011 Advancing to Nationals The top 5 teams will advance to the nationals at each of the qualifier events (Maximum teams 26) According to the rules of FLL: All qualifiers must use Champions Award criteria to determine team advancement to Championships, including a Robot Performance game score in the top 40% of all teams. Teams participating in multiple events: We are also reserving 4-6 places for special invitations to the SA finals. The core values of teams as well as their improved performance (according to champions award rankings) in multiple events will determine if a team will be invited. Please note a team will only be considered for an award at the first official tournament that they attend.

FLL Judging 2011 Award Nominees Project: To be eligible for Project Awards your team must have a live presentation that: 1.Describes the contamination or spoiling problem your team chose to research 2.Describes your teams innovative solution 3.Describes how your team shared its findings with others 4.Uses media equipment only to enhance the live presentation During your presentation, also be sure that your team: 1.Describes the food your team chose and what you learned about that foods journey to your table 2.Tells about at least one scientist, engineer, doctor, or other professional who is working on the problem 3.Tells about the research your team did and the information sources that helped to define your problem and solution 4.Can set up and complete your presentation in 5 minutes or less

FLL Judging 2011 Award Nominees Technical Presentation: Important (Please inform the technical judges if you are going to use this option at the tournament): Each team have the option of preparing a technical presentation and may ask the judges to start with a presentation. The presentation can be short but no longer than 5 minutes, also showing how the robot perform some missions. Teams must provide the following: (a 2-page document) 1.Describing the robot; 2.Describing the strategy the team has followed to solve the playing field 3.At least 1 copy of a program that the team has written for the robot

FLL Judging 2011 Award Nominees Core Values Important: The judges view Core values as the rules of FIRST LEGO League in much the same way as one have to adhere to the rules of rugby or cricket. We expect the teams to know the rules of FLL! We want teams to internalize these values! Please note: 1.Anyone attached to a team will impact positively or negatively on a teams performance in this category, that includes mentors, coaches, parents, brothers and sisters attached to the team. 2.The Core Values must show the full integration of the teams activities in all the categoiries of the FLL tournament. 3.We also expect that teams will have a Core Values poster at a tournament, showing how they approached FLL during the whole season. 4.Core Values will be judged in a room like technical and projects this year!
