the current model Use the template and in small groups create your own model schools worker based upon your current practice

Impact Indicators Readiness to progress to next stage of schooling Attainment at age 16 Attainment at age 19 Narrowing the gap in educational attainment School choice facing parents Progress in english and maths between key stages Ensuring a strong start for disadvantaged children Reducing under 18 conception rate

Endings and beginnings Duty to promote community cohesion Matters relating to well being - though well being and happiness remain on the overall government agenda Ring fenced funding The national curriculum

Endings and beginnings Greater autonomy in terms of budget and curriculum Free schools Academies New curriculum - outline plans out in December

More teaching and learning less social engineering What happens to community cohesion and well being? What place happiness? The role of the church Growth of chaplaincy and the role of the counsellor

Greater autonomy and less ring fenced funding Extended services Enrichment programmes One to one learning

New curriculum What about RE? What about collective worship?

Free schools and academies In groups ask would this be a ministry a group of schools workers could undertake? If so why? If not why not?

The pupil premium A bias to the poor? Money to schools from april 2011 Impact of youthworkers in this area

The big society We are clear that the voluntary and community sectors play, and will continue to play, a significant role in reforming services for children, young people and families. We are, therefore, opening up public services to enable the voluntary sector to become better involved in delivering key services. It is not yet possible at this early stage to say how much of the overall DfE budget will go to the voluntary sector. We are still working through the detail of the SR settlement and implications for policy and programme areas. Details will follow in due course.

The big society a part to play A whole church response
