It’s Valentine’s Day It’s Valentine’s Day.And in the street There’s freezing rain, and slush, and sleet. The wind is fierce. The skies are gray. I don’t think I’ll go out today. But here inside the weather’s warm. There is no trace of wind or storm. And you just made the morning shine. You said you’d be my Valentine.

The Saint Valentines Day is celebrated on 14th of Fabruary. It is celebrated among persons of all ages and is a happy little festival, especially for children and girls, sweethearts, husbands, and wifes, friends and neighbours exchange greetings of affection and love. Flowers and candies are favourite presents which sweethearts send to each other. Valentine candy is packed in red-heard-shaped boxes and sold for this one day. Valentine’s cards are very colorful, with a couple of human hearts on them and verse.

Street heart to say I love you. Sweetheart is one I share. The first valentines cards appeared in the third century. We can see the oldest card is in the British Museum. Traditional Valentine’s cards are sentimental in nature: I’ll be your sweetheart If you will be mine All of my life I’ll be your Valentine. Jast one more way, Street heart to say I love you. Jast one more way To tell you thet I care Because your world, Sweetheart is one I share.

Perhaps the most popular rhyme is «Roses are red» Perhaps the most popular rhyme is «Roses are red».There are numerous variations of it: Roses are red and violets are blue rnations sweet and so are you. Roses are red, violets are blue You know how much I love you Roses are red, violets are blue, grass is green, and I love you. Messages can be humorous: Dear, Debbie, I can’t love you any more. I have a dog now. Tom.

There are many legends about celebrating of the Saint Valentines Day There are many legends about celebrating of the Saint Valentines Day. The most popular are two legends. They both tell us about Ancient Rome, where in 269 lived two Valentines, who became saint after death. The first legend tells about priest Valentine. The 14th of February was celebrated as the feast of all in love. Girls wrote their names and put them in special places for boys to choose.Sometimes it ended by marri ages.

Claudius wanted to have a big army Claudius wanted to have a big army. He expected men to volunteer to join. Many men did’t want to fight in wars. They had families. And Claudius decided not to allow any more marriages. Valentine was not going to support that law. He was against the plans of Claudius II. The priest was executed on the 14th February. This day became Saint Valentines Day.

The second legend is told about the doctor. He treated the children The second legend is told about the doctor. He treated the children. It was in spring, at the «Birdsday». The birds opened the season of Love. Valentine was arrested. But many young people came to the jail to visit the doctor. They threw flowers and notes up to his window. They wanted him to know that they believed in love. One of these young people was the daughter of the prison guard. She was blind. Her father allowed her to visit him in the cell. She helped Valentine to keep his spirits up. One day he was to die,he left his friend a little note thanring her for friendship and loyalty. Valentine wrote «Love from your Valentine». There was a version of the first valentine.

The people in Europe and the USA celebrate Valentine’s Day too The people in Europe and the USA celebrate Valentine’s Day too. Every St. Valentines Day thousands of people travel to a small village on Scotland’s border with England to get married. The village is called Gretna Green. It’s romatic reputation began in 1754. In that times in England marriage for the people under the age of 21 without parent’s permission was banned. However in Scotland this permission was not required. Greta Green was the first stop across the border. Many young couples came to Greta Green to get married there. The British send the greeting cards not only to their friends, but to their pets too. We selebrate the Valentines Day from 1990. Now we know about this festival, even heartshape bakery forms are sold now. But there is not so much traditions to celebrate it in Russia. We celebrate this Day in our school too. We also decorate our classrooms with big red hearts and send greetengs cards to our friends and teachers.
