Consider one another Hebrews 10:24

Consider one another Consider – (κατανοέω, katanoeō) to notice, or observe; to give careful thought to a matter, to look at something in a reflective manner, to notice (Logos Bible Sense Lexicon, BDAG)

Consider one another Consider – Matthew 7:3 – do not consider the plank in your own eye Luke 12:24 – the ravens James 1:23-24 – observes his face Hebrews 3:1 – Consider the Apostle and High Priest…

To stir up (provoke, stimulate To rouse one to activity Consider one another To stir up (provoke, stimulate To rouse one to activity Consider one another TO stir them up OR consider HOW to stir up one another Present tense – an on going action!

Why consider my brethren? Because we need each other Romans 12:10 Consider one another Why consider my brethren? Because we need each other Romans 12:10 Because what I do affects them – cf. 1 Corinthians 8:9, 11- 12, Galatians 5:13 “One another” – reciprocal

Consider one another in: Stirring up love - Hebrews 10:24 Love always involves considering each other – Romans 12:10 Romans 14:15, if your brother is grieved, you are no longer walking in love Ask: What can I do to bring out godly love in my brethren?

Consider one another in: Stirring up good works - Hebrews 10:24 Good works are part of our lives – Matthew 5:16, 1 Peter 2:12 Ephesians 2:10 Colossians 1:10 1 Timothy 6:10 Titus 2:14

Consider one another in: Stirring up good works - The only challenge is determining what is a good work! Ask: By my example, actions and words am I provoking my brethren to do good? Cf. 1 Corinthians 11:1

Consider one another in: Our assembling Hebrews 10:25 A concern of the writer We cannot consider one another if we never see each other. Assembling together is commanded and a good way to be reminded about each other

Consider one another in: Our assembling When we assemble, we worship God But we are also edified – cf. 1 Corinthians 14:26, 12 Teaching and admonishing one another – Colossians 3:16 We will be provoking one another to love and good works

Consider one another in: Doing our part in the church The church is us! Ephesians 4:16, we grow when every part does its share! This is NOT just worship assemblies. It includes keeping her pure and united, helping each other.

Consider one another in: Doing our part in the church We should seek to relieve the burdens of others, cf. Galatians 6:2 Example – evangelism! Matthew 9:37 Example – Bible classes. Are we helping each other in this?

Consider one another in: Doing our part in the church Ask: Am I doing my part? Am I doing all that I can? Is the work hindered because I am not pulling my weight? When one refuses to do his/her part – the task still needs to be done. This usually means those already working have to do more.

Consider one another in: Exhortation Hebrews 10:25 Exhort – to call to one’s side (to stand by them), to encourage. We all need to be encouraged Hebrews 3:13, 2 Timothy 4:2 Ask: Am I exhorting my brethren to stand firm?

Consider one another in: Dealing with struggles We all have and face struggles, weaknesses, burdens & faults Sometimes our faith, adds to them, cf. 2 Timothy 3:12 I need to be thinking about my brethren in these matters!

Consider one another in: Dealing with struggles Romans 14:1, 15:1-2 1 Thessalonians 5:14 Galatians 6:1-2 1 John 3:16-18 Matthew 7:12

Consider one another in: Dealing with struggles We can’t help someone if we don’t know what is going on! Can you (will you) turn to your brethren? James 5:16 Also, if they do ask for help, be careful in passing judgment – cf. Matthew 7:1-5

We have to care about one another and seek to stir them up for good! BUT, our ability to stir up others begins with considering ourselves! Galatians 6:1

Are you considerate of your brethren?
