An Impossible Sermon Mark 10:23-27

It Is Impossible To Be Saved Without God This is one thing man cannot do Man must rely on God for guidance (Jer. 10:23) God has a superior way (Isa. 55:8-9) What about working out one’s own salvation? Only on instructions from Christ (Heb. 5:9) Done with fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12-13)

It Is Impossible To Be Saved Without Faith Hebrews 11:6 shows the importance of faith It is a faith that comes from God’s word (Rom. 10:17) It is an obedient faith (Acts 6:7; Rom. 1:5) It is a working faith (James 2:14, 17, 20, 26)

“It Is Impossible That No Offenses Should Come…” Temptations are a reality of life (Lk. 17:1) Question: How do temptations come? Answer: James 1:13-15 Our duty is to overcome (James 1:12) What matters is what we do when temptations come Consider the actions of Jesus (Matt. 4:1-10) Look for a way of escape (1 Cor. 10:13) If temptation becomes sin, repent and pray (Acts 8:22)

It Is Impossible To Renew Some To Repentance When a disciple sins, we are to try to restore (Gal. 6:1; James 5:19-20) Some misuse and misapply Hebrews 6:4-6 Context of Hebrews No “if” in Greek

Compare KJV, NASB, YLT “If they shall fall away” (KJV) “and then have fallen away” (NASB) “and having fallen away” (YLT)

It Is Impossible To Renew Some To Repentance When a disciple sins, we are to try to restore (Gal. 6:1; James 5:19-20) Some misuse and misapply Hebrews 6:4-6 Context of Hebrews No “if” in Greek Emphasis What new information do we give him? No different than Matthew 13:15 The heart must turn to God
