HOW A BILL BECOMES A LAW!

1. CONGRESS writes a bill and votes on it. To pass the BILL it must gain at least 51% of the votes

2. The BILL then goes to the President. 3. The President may sign the bill into law …or VETO the BILL. This would send it back to Congress.

4. CONGRESS may take a re-vote on the BILL but now they need 66% of the Congressmen to vote in favor it to over ride the President’s veto. 5. If CONGRESS gains at least 66% of the VOTE – the bill passes into LAW!

6. The U.S. Supreme Court may determine that the law is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and strike the law down if the law comes before them from a court case at a later date.
