MY TARGET POPULATION LEFT HANDED FEMALES 8-11 YEARS OLD 5th PERCENTILE SMALL HANDS
RATIONALE FOR TARGET POPULATION People with small hands cannot comfortably use the big mouse in stores Left handed people have to switch to their right hand for their mouse which is a hindrance If there is a left handed mouse for small hands it will be a lot easier for my target population to use a mouse
MY RATIONALE Width- the hand should easily be able to fit the mouse comfortably (9 cm across at the widest point) The mouse is shaped to fit the contour of the hand at a neutral position It is long enough to get a good grip on the mouse (12.5 cm long) 4 cm is tall so that the hand can be comfortably elevated when the arm is in a neutral position. Since the mouse is at a slope the hand is able to rest easily on top of it
RATIONALE FOR THE BUTTONS THE BUTTONS ARE SHAPED TO FIT YOUR FINGER THEY ARE CURVED SO THAT THE FINGER TIP CAN COMFORTABLY REST ON IT AND CLICK THE MIDDLE FINGER IS THE RIGHT CLICK It is the right click button because usually you use the ring finger and if you keep using your ring finger then the possibility of repetitive motion injury could occur. THE THUMB IS THE LEFT CLICK It is the right click button because usually you use your index finger and the thumb doesn’t do anything Using the thumb to right click is comfortable for left handed people THE INDEX FINGER IS THE SCROLL Using a different finger for the scroll will prevent the chances of repetitive motion injury and it is more efficient to use the index finger as a scroll Indents on the mouse so that the other fingers can easily rest
FEEDBACK Comfortable Curved top fits hand Small and portable Nice indents for fingers Good size Hard to move around Indents are small Buttons are a little awkward It is a little high for the hand POSITIVE NEGATIVE
REDESIGN I would make bigger indents I would move the pinky indent to the side for more space I would smooth the bottom more so it would be easier to move around I would sand the top so it would be shorter
BEFORE AND AFTER THE MOUSE ON THE LEFT IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND THE MOUSE ON THE RIGHT IS THE FINISHED MOUSE
Thank You! I hope you enjoy using my mouse!
