Ambassadors’ ideas Step 1: One chance and one chance only First incident to be recorded in the Equality Book as One chance and one chance only- Initial Younger children are not always aware that they are being racist ‘ One Chance and One Chance Only’ Informal chat No parental contact No detention Step 3: Achievement No incidents recorded in the Equality Book for a whole term Once 6 week programme completed-child will be removed from the group Positive letter sent home – but stipulate step 4 if incidents re-occur Step 4: Non-responsive/reoccur Ring parent to inform No letter home Detention for each log Move on to 12 week programme All additional logs will be numbered for tracking and monitoring Step 2: Second incident Record in Equality Book – initial – number log Parents contacted via phone Parents informed that letter is going home informing of incident and consequences Start anti-racism programme Detention given Recorded on SIMMs
