When the spirit comes

Signs of the spirit: Filled at 19 (witness) Jesus wants to fill us with His Spirit, not so we can feel good, but so we can be empowered for mission. Let’s look at how the Spirit empowers us for mission.

Signs of the spirit: Acts 1:4-5, 8, “Wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit… You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”

Signs of the spirit: When we are walking in the current fullness of the Spirit there is power in our lives. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” People who walk in the current fullness of the Spirit ought to have power in their lives. (Acts 2, 3)

Signs of the spirit: When we are walking in the current fullness of the Spirit there is power in our lives. Power involves risk. Our next level with God lies beyond the boundaries of our current experience. We must risk more than we are comfortable with to get there. (Muslim Dr)

Signs of the spirit: When we are walking in the current fullness of the Spirit there is witness. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses.” Witness is a direct evidence of the Spirit’s current fullness in our lives.

Signs of the spirit: When we are walking in the current fullness of the Spirit there is witness. When we are walking in the presence of the Spirit we have desire & ability to witness. A witness is simply one who testifies to what they have seen & experienced. It’s not forced. (plane ride with woman to Providence – parenting)

Signs of the spirit: When we are walking in the current fullness of the Spirit there is witness. We witness to Jesus activity in our lives as a Healer & as a Savior. (e.g., anxiety; depression; shame; bitterness; addiction) Where does Jesus work in your life intersect the brokenness of those around you?

Signs of the spirit: When we are walking in the current fullness of the Spirit there is prophecy. We hear God’s voice. Acts 2:17, “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.” (6 ways God speaks)

Signs of the spirit: When we are walking in the current fullness of the Spirit there is prophecy. We hear God’s voice. We have to learn how to hear God’s voice. And walk humbly with the Spirit. The Spirit will direct us to people, and give us wisdom with what to say. (Cleveland – Erie)

Signs of the spirit: Are you currently living in the fullness of the Spirit? Are you actively engaged in mission? We live in a desperately broken & sin-stained world that needs to know Jesus as Healer & Savior. Live on mission in the power of the Spirit.
