Burns/Dudley/Marrero January 14-18, 2019 ELA: We will continue reading a biography on Martin Luther King Jr. this nine weeks. Vocabulary has been given. Begin studying vocabulary for Ch1-7 because test is Friday. We will discuss all SS Civil Rights Concepts through the readings. 3rd Nine Week Language Skills: Perfect Tense Verbs, Simple Tense Verbs, Subject/Verb Agreement, Punctuating Titles of Works, Proofing Skills, Similes/Metaphors Writing Focus: Opinion with counter arguments (students must be able to defend their opinion with evidence) SCHEDULE: MONDAY: TUESDAY: WEDNESDAY: Dudley Homeroom Mid Year Reading Inventory; Math Challenge THURSDAY: FRIDAY: MLK Comp Test #1/Unit 4B Math Test NO SCHOOL MONDAY, JANUARY 21st Math: This week we will continue to practice multiplying and dividing fractions. Students will receive the Unit 4B study guide on Tuesday, January 15th. Students will take the Unit 4B test over multiplying and dividing fractions on Friday, January 18th. Dress Code Reminder: Jackets inside the building: Insignias or logo no larger than standard credit card unless school insignia. Jackets can be solid navy, white, ash, black or burgundy. No more than 2 combinations above. SCIENCE: This week, students will continue to learn about animal and plant cells. In addition, students will begin to learn about bacteria and how they can be both helpful and harmful. Tentatively Test Dates: Vocab Quiz 1-23-19; Unit 4 Assessment 1-30-19 SS: We are continuing to learn about the Cold War. This week we will cover the Korean War, Joseph Mcarthy and Nikita Khrushchev, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Tentative Unit Assessment Date is set for 2-1-19. Study Guides for BOTH Units will be sent home this week. Donations of the following items are greatly appreciated: Tissues, Lysol Wipes, Lysol Spray
