Intelli-FLEX™ Intelligent Fence Mounted Cable Type Sensor ARITECH Intelli-FLEX™ Intelligent Fence Mounted Cable Type Sensor A Technological Breakthrough in Signal Processing for Cable-Type Sensors

Introduction Intelli-FLEX™ Cable-type intrusion detection sensor (Fence Mounted) outdoor and interior applications Provides an alarm if an intruder attempts to climb over the fence attempts to cut through the fence attempts to lift the fence fabric attempts to penetrate wall (indoor version) E-Flex II is a passive sensor. Sensitive coaxial cable is mounted directly on the fence line.

Typical Configuration Dual zone deployment

Vocabulary Glossary of terms Zone Sensor cable Non-sensitive cable The area or sector that is being monitored. Sensor cable The proprietary coaxial transducer cable mounted on the fence. Non-sensitive cable RG59/u coaxial cable that connects the processor to the sensitive cable. Processor Outdoor mounted electronics required to analyze the sensor cable disturbance.

Equipment List Intelli-FLEX™ System Elements Processor w/ enclosure and power supply & battery charger Program Module Sensor Cable Non-sensitive Cable Splice Kit Terminator Kit

Theory of Operation Triboelectric Effect Minute movement (flexing) of the cable will produce a transfer of charge between conductors in the passive sensor cable. This measurable signal is monitored at one end of up to 1000 feet (300 m) of cable

Supervision Circuits Sensor cable supervision Monitored by a small DC current Terminated by a 1M ohm resistor (EOL) If the cable is cut, shorted, or the processor enclosure is tampered with, a supervision alarm will be generated Hall Effect” board mounted magnetic tamper switch.

Cable Splices Terminator/Splice Kits UV protected and weather resistant Connect sensitive cable to non-sensitive cable, or sensitive cable to sensitive cable. Explain the theory behind low DC voltage Note that sensitive cable can be connected to either sensitive coax or non-sensitive coax

Theory of Operation Processor Continually evaluates electrical signals generated by the sensor cable, and converts the information to a digital format. Through “Adaptive Algorithms”, the processor will alarm if an intruders is trying to Cut the fence fabric. Climb the fence. Lift the fence fabric.

Key Hardware Features “Standard” Dual Zone Processor Microprocessor - Based Backward Compatibility Low Power Consumption Full Lightning Protection Handy Programming Module Optional Weather Station

Low Power Consumption Only 70mA of current required for normal two zone operation Small internal Gel Cel (.8AH) battery provides minimum 8 hour backup

State of the Art Lightning Protection Gas discharge tubes and transzorbs on all inputs and outputs provide maximum protection against lightning

Backward Compatibility Intelli-FLEX uses existing E-Flex Cable, Splices, Gate Kits and Tie Wraps

Microprocessor Based A powerful Motorola 68HC11 Series processor resides within each Intelli-FLEX system Contains onboard A/D converters, memory and I/O dedicated to analyzing fence disturbance signals

Enhanced Features Separate Threshold Adjustments for Cut and Climb for each zone Extremely important in lowering nuisance alarm in demanding situations “Learn Fence” Mode Internal Automatic Self Test

Key Software Features Adaptive Algorithms™ Ambient Compensation Common Mode Rejection “Learn Fence” Mode Separate Cut & Climb Thresholds Cipher Protected Adjustments Optional Built-in Transponder

Theory of Operation Processor (continued) Operates on 20VAC or 12VDC. Back-up battery provides over 8 hours of operation during power failures. Operationally tested from -30 o C to +70 o C.

Adaptive Algorithms™ Sophisticated software code written to change or modify system parameters as new information is received

Ambient Compensation Statistical analysis of digitized analog signals identifying properties inherent in wind & rain as they differ from cut & climb Provides a “Dynamic Threshold” as weather events build, without sacrificing sensor performance or detection

Common Mode Rejection An event “qualifier” that compares identical weather effects on adjacent zones to verify ambient compensation measures

Audio Option Optional audio plug in board allows selection and monitoring of sensor cable signals. Provides “Listen-in” capability On-board line amplifier Remotely switchable - Zone 1 or 2 Explain that the audio module is providing the actual disturbance signal

Weather Station Option Enclosure mounted weather sensor provides simple rain and wind verification to the processor via A/D converter

Multiplexer Option Mux version of the Intelli-FLEX board provides data communication interface within the signal processor eliminating the requirement for outboard transponders or multiplexers

Theory of Operations Options (continued) Weather Station Provides weather data so the processor may make intelligent decisions. Self Test Terminator Provides a permanent and convenient way to test zones remotely. No external power or wiring is required.

Preparing for Installation Installation Planning Perimeter of installation Perimeter structure Mounting the processors Monitoring and power wiring. Perimeter of installation How many gates, what is the distance, large openings. Perimeter structure What is the condition of the fence. Center of panel, should deflect 2-3 inches with 30 lb. pull. Mounting the processors Locate positions at least 15 feet away from the fence line. Monitoring and power wiring Must me run to each processor.

Preparing for Installation Site Survey Should be conducted before installing any system hardware To ensure optimum performance... Mounting surface should be as stable as possible. Fences must be cleared of vegetation and any other objects that disturb the structure. A good earth ground should be achieved for the sensor processor. Earth ground is highly recommended. Note that if two different ground planes are present, nuisance alarms will occur.

Preparing for Installation Site Survey (continued) Fence condition is critical to the trouble-free and efficient operation of the Intelli-FLEX sensor. All fence framework should meet or exceed minimum specifications outlined in the installation manual.

Preparing for Installation Determining a List of Materials The Intelli-FLEX™ sensor system is supplied in kits for installation convenience. Single zone kits Dual zone kits All Intelli-FLEX hardware components may be purchased individually. Options enhance the overall effectiveness of secure facilities.

Typical Configuration Processor installation (single zone)

Installation Junction devices Moisture proof Connects sensor cable to non-sensitive feed cable, or sensor cable to sensor cable, and holds termination resistor/card.

Installation Sensor cable Mounted directly to the fence May be mounted in conduit Secured by UV protected tie wraps every 12 inches (.3m)

Installation Sensor Cable (continued) Fences >8 feet (2.5 m) in height should have double passes.

Installation Sensor Cable (continued) Fence at corner posts need additional sensitivity due to the rigidness of the fence.

Installation Gates Protected gates

Installation Gates (continued) Unprotected gates

Installation Gates (continued) Protected sliding gates may use EJ-8 Quick Disconnect Assembly

Installation

Remote Self Test Remote Test Option Generator board (no local power req’d)
