Reading Workshop Schedule Reading Workshop- 70 minutes each day 5-10 minute warm up - critical thinking question 10-15 minute mini-lesson 25 minute independent reading (small groups/conferencing) 15 minute read aloud with accountable talk and response 5 minute close/share ***Library every Thursday! Students are expected to read and take AR tests. It should take no longer than 2 weeks to finish a book on average. Rewards are given each 9 weeks for AR reading.

Weekly Vocabulary Students receive their words on Monday Students will be tested on Friday Words are kept in their vocab notebook Students should study 10 minutes each night Words are usually on upcoming checkpoints or from the current read aloud

Poetry Poetry analysis Students will have a poetry section in their vocabulary notebook Each week we analyze and dive deep into the elements of poetry.

Homework expectations Read nightly (Monday through Friday) at least 20 minutes a day. Also respond in their reading logs. Wednesday folders- please return empty on Thursday (except things that are signed or need to be returned) Students are expected to record the “I will” statements in their planners.
