Entrepreneurship 110

Why do you think they compare being an entrepreneur with being a kid? The idea that kids are creative, innovative, have a love of life and are passionate about what they are doing/playing with are all characteristics of good entrepreneurs!

What is an “ENTREPRENEUR”? On a piece of paper, write down your definition of an ENTREPRENEUR. In groups of 2, share your definition. As a group, come up with a definition of an ENTREPRENEUR that you can share with the class. Need to have large poster sheets of paper, markers and tape available Write your group’s definition on the large paper and hang it on the wall.

Definitions you should know: An entrepreneur is someone who creates and runs his/her own business. (See our definitions as well!) Entrepreneur is derived from the French word “entreprendre” which actually means to begin or start. To be entrepreneurial means to think or act like an entrepreneur Entrepreneurship is the process of being an entrepreneur. Should have students write these down in their journal notebooks.

THINK, PARE, SHARE- “TPS” Step 1- THINK of at least 5 adjectives that describe an entrepreneur for you Step 2- PAIR with one other person to discuss your adjectives Step 3- In groups of 2, SHARE your adjectives and come up with a list of adjectives that describe an entrepreneur upon which everyone can agree

Characteristics of an ENTREPRENEUR: Add the list of adjectives to the PPT on the SmartBoard and save after so you have the list they generated for your next group. Students should write down these adjectives and being able to defend/dispute them as per our discussion.
