Figure 1 Unifying Pathogenic Scenario for Aberrant p25/Cdk5-Mediated Neurodegeneration Abnormal production of p25 and activation of Cdk5 may be linked to Parkinson's disease (PD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), ischemia, and Alzheimer's disease (AD). The role of p25/Cdk5 in each of these different conditions has been related to unique signaling events as indicated. Collectively, these cellular perturbations culminate in the demise of the affected cells, likely by apoptosis.
