Welcome Assignment Take out your Heredity Buddies Work as a pair to complete the Heredity Buddies form Both partners exchange either the females or males, but not one of each. THIS IS DUE TODAY BY THE END OF THE CLASS PERIOD!!!

Jan 12 &13, 2011 Welcome Assignment Take out a sheet of paper Write name, period, and date in the upper right hand corner Write the title “Heredity Buddies Reflection” Copy the following benchmarks 7.5.1 Differentiate between sexual and asexual reproduction 7.5.2 Describe how an inherited trait can be determined by one or more genes 7.5.3 Explain how small changes may become big differences when comparing ancestors to offspring

Heredity Buddies Reflection Questions Explain how genes from parents can produce offspring that are similar but not exactly the same. Give an example of the above using a Punnett square. When genes from parents combine to make a new individual is that mitosis or meiosis? Explain how you know which one it is. Over time, generation after generation, what do you predict will be the outcome of the offspring if you compare them with the ancestors 20 generations before them? Explain how your performance on the assignment show or does not show that you have mastered the benchmark

Heredity Buddies Reflection Which GLOs were important for this assignment? How did you achieve each GLO that you listed? GLO1 – Self-Directed Learner GLO2 – Community Contributor GLO3 – Complex Thinker GLO4 – Quality Producer GLO5 – Effective Communicator GLO6 – Effective and Ethical user of Technology
