What are Academic Competitions? 1.1 An academic competition is an event in which law students and young lawyers compete against each other with the aim of preparing the participants for the specialised forms of skills, experience and knowledge that are required within the legal profession. 1.2 The AA officer shall assure that the academic competition has a relevant legal topic, a recognised jury and a comprehensive set of rules. 1.3 In the assessment of the participants, the Jury should be guided by factors such as clarity, conciseness, persuasiveness, critical thinking and conformity with the objective standards that have evolved in the legal profession.
