The Gift MUCH MORE Than the Offense The Book of Genesis is not just the “Book of Beginning” but the unfolding of God’s love for His crowned creation: mankind. His desire is to save man from his unrighteousness (sin) through His own gift of righteousness.
ADAM: Death Through Sin Romans 5:12-21 Through Adam sin entered the world, and death through sin. Cp. Gen. 2:17; 3:14ff Judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation. V. 16 Death spread to all men BECAUSE all sinned.
Romans 5:15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, MUCH MORE the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.
Jesus: Life Through Justification Romans 5:15-21 Justified by Christ’s blood. V. 2 Reconciled through Christ’s death. V. 10 Grace greater than transgression; justification greater than condemnation. V. 16 Life over death. V. 17
The Gift of Righteousness For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17
What Does This Mean? We have died with Christ (baptized into Christ’s death). Rom. 6:1-4 We ought to walk as those crucified with Him “in order that our body of sin might be done away with.” Rom. 6:6 THEREFORE…use our bodies (lives) as instruments of righteousness. Rom. 6:13
