Tori Gregg – Evaluation Bureau STARS Conference April 14, 2016 NMTEACH STEPS Tori Gregg – Evaluation Bureau STARS Conference April 14, 2016

NMTEACH: What Has Changed? Student Achievement Data (STAM) will now be current New release date Simplified process: classifications reduced from 107 to 3 Single statewide plan STEPS

Current Student Achievement Effective beginning this year New evaluations will include student achievement data from 2014, 2015, & 2016 Student achievement will no longer “lag” a year Beginning this year, student achievement measures will reflect the most current year’s data instead of lagging a year. This year’s summative will display STAM data from 2014, 2015, 2016. This means that two years of data will fall off of the evaluation and that data will be current.

New Release Date Old System: Spring release date New System: Fall release date Summative reports will be available to districts in September This means new deadlines and more time for districts to get data in

Simplified Process Prior to this year’s summative, teachers had to decode: Tags Groups Levels This, combined with plans, allowed for 107 possible classifications

STEPS Student Achievement   Student Achievement Classroom Observation Creating an Environment for Learning & Teaching for Learning Planning and Preparation and Professionalism Teacher Attendance and/or Surveys Step 1: Teachers who have no student achievement data in the last 3 years 0% 50% 40% 10% Step 2: Teachers with 1-2 years of student achievement data (STAM) 25% Step 3: Teachers with 3 years of student achievement data (STAM) 15% STEPS Example: A teacher with 2 years of student achievement data falls into Step 2. Versus the complex system before: A teacher in Group 2, Level B, who had a district plan that included Surveys but not attendance

Important Dates April 20, 2016: May 30, 2016: EOY Accuroster 15/16 opens to districts May 30, 2016: Submission of observation data (Domains 1 – 4) EOY EoCs entered into STARS/Extractions from Blackboard District review and verification of EoC data

Important Dates July 15, 2016: May 25 – July 28, 2016 September, 2016: Submission of teacher attendance data May 25 – July 28, 2016 NMTEACH regional administrator trainings September, 2016: Final NMTEACH summative report released to districts

Data Review and Verification Same year STAM = quick turnaround Accuroster EoC review Because of the new timeline, there will be a quick turnaround on some important data review processes. The accuroster opens on 4/20 and will be used in the VAM. EoC’s can be reviewed in mid-June—will have a short window for districts to verify data. Teacher attendance should be
