The Book of God #1

God willing, we will do some lessons about how God communicates with man.

I. The Bible is a unique book.

When inventing the printing press one of his goals was to be able to print bibles.

God used human authors with Widely varying backgrounds.

The divisions in God’s book were added by men.

The books of the bible are arranged by topic, not by date, author or importance.

The bible and most books in it contain a variety of literary styles.

means of “general revelation.” II. God first revealed Himself by means of “general revelation.”

The term “general revelation” refers to manifestations of God that are observable to all.

Romans 1: 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

Psalms 19: 1-4 The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. 2 Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. 4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun,

Consider the creation of mankind. Psalm 139: 13-14 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. 14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.

The conscience and the mind of man reveals his creator.

Romans 2: 14-15 For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, 15 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, 16 on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.

The existence of the physical universe proclaims the existence of its creator. 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars

Psalm 19: 1-4 The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Romans 1: 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

of “specific revelation.” III. God reveals Himself by means of “specific revelation.”

God has made special revelations from the garden of Eden until Jesus and His Apostles.

Hebrews 1: 1-2 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.

God has made special revelations from the garden of Eden until Jesus and His Apostles.

We know God because God revealed Himself to mankind in various ways. General revelation Special revelation

God has revealed Himself to you. How have you responded ?

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. I Corinthians 11: 26

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Philippians 4:8
