Mrs. Hawkins’ First Grade News May 1, 2017 ozweifel@greeleyschools.org A Peek At The Week -In reading we are continuing to direct instruction at students’ reading levels. -In Math students are choosing their favorite method to solve 2-digit addition problems. Students will also take a look at coins and their values. -During writing time this week we will continue with Opinion Writing. The students will have the opportunity to write about their favorite activity in school and their favorite activity outside of school. -Our Core Knowledge time will switch back to social studies on our unit of Mexico. This week students will learn about the geography of Mexico, the Aztec legend of the Mexico Flag, and the traditional clothing from Mexico. Homework Ideas -Please take time to read with your child every night for 10-15 minutes. -Reading homework should be coming home daily! Looking Ahead -May 9th First Grade Music Program at 6:00pm -May 24th Last day of school for students -May 24th PBIS Assembly at 3:00 Extra News We will be celebrating June and July birthdays in May. If your child has a birthday in those months you are more than welcome to send in birthday treats on your May snack day.
