Static Electricity

Electricity: Involves the movement of electrons. Only electrons can move because they are not locked up in the nucleus.

Electrostatics The study of static electric charges Everything has both positive & negative. Usually, objects are electrically neutral: positive charge = negative charge

Electrostatics Sometimes free electrons [(-)charges] move from one substance to another. If an object loses electrons, it will become positively charged If an object gains electrons, it will become negatively charged.
