Removable Graduation Prosthodontics Expectations

Removable Graduation Prosthodontics Expectations By graduation, students must demonstrate that they can treat an edentulous or partially edentulous patient with removable prostheses and prepare appropriate laboratory prescriptions.

Removable Graduation Prosthodontics Expectations Each student must complete 5 removable prosthetic experiences (patients) This could amount to as many as ten removable prosthodontic “pieces” Also required is a Removable Competency

5 Removable Experiences 2 cases must have both arches completely edentulous (in other words, 2 F/F cases). 2 cases must include fabrication of at least one partial denture. At least 1 experience must include a post surgical delivery of a removable prostheses (immediate).

5 Removable Experiences There are alternate sources of denture credit towards those 5 experiences other than the general clinic: La Clinica and the Special Needs Clinic/Program are acceptable. Gene LaBarre gives good feedback from La Clinica about each student.

Removable Competency Competencies should start as soon as a student has completed a F/F or F/Partial in the clinic. Competency must be done on one of student’s assigned patients from start to finish with calibrated removable/prosths faculty only.

Competency Has 4 Parts Diagnosis, Preliminary, and Final Impressions Jaw relations (midline/lip line, vertical dimension, and centric relation determination record) Wax Try-in (remount if necessary, patient esthetic acceptance, phonetics) Delivery (and follow up appointments established)
