Section 4: Safety Management System Safety Management Systems, also know as “Safety Programs”, are currently not a mandatory requirement under Alberta OH&S Legislation. Having a SMS is however strongly encouraged and will become a requirement in the future for all City Vendors for employers with 20 or greater employees by 1 June 2018. Vendors with a Certificate of Recognition (COR) or Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR) for safety management may be given a preference over those without one. Section 4: Safety Management System If you do not have a safety management system with recognition for COR or SECOR, check “No”. This does not remove you from consideration for work. If you have a Certificate of Recognition for health and safety management, check “Yes”….. ….and attach a copy or your COR/SECOR certificate…. ….and table of contents from the program manual…. Section 4: Safety Management System If you do not have a safety management system but you have some processes or policies for health and safety, tell us what you do have. Some areas are more critical to have and potential vendors must be willing to develop these areas or risk being declined a safety approval.
